Who we are
Suntory established its presence in Europe in 1983 by acquiring Château Lagrange, a vineyard in Bordeaux, France. In 1988, Suntory also handled the operation of Weingut Robert Weil in Rheingau, Germany. Furthermore, Suntory also jointly operates two French châteaux, Château Beychevelle and Château Beaumont, as well as one negociant.
Suntory acquired French soft drink manufacturer Orangina Schweppes Group in 2009, and acquired the iconic British brands Ribena and Lucozade in 2013. Today these brands are part of the group of companies known as Suntory Beverage & Food Europe (SBFE), headquartered in the United Kingdom. SBFE business stretches beyond the boundaries of Europe and includes French overseas territories, Northern and Western Africa and the British Caribbean. The group has a large portfolio of the world's best-loved soft drink brands, including Schweppes,* Orangina, Lucozade, and Ribena, many of which are leaders in their respective markets, and covers all segments of still and carbonated fruit-based drinks, tonics, juices, nectars, and concentrates to sports drinks.
Suntory is also proud of its presence in the European spirits market through Beam Suntory, established in 2014 by acquiring Beam. Through the acquisition, Suntory has welcomed Europe's most popular spirits brands, including Laphroaig, Bowmore, Jim Beam, and Courvoisier, into Beam Suntory's combined portfolio. Today, Beam Suntory has its international region headquarters in Spain.
Guided by the vision of “Growing for Good”, Suntory will continuously strive to offer innovative drinks to European consumers, while coexisting with the society by giving back to the local communities through various CSR initiatives, and tackling environmental issues to contribute to realizing a sustainable society. In all these efforts, Suntory is driven by the founding spirit of “Yatte Minahare”, which urges us to boldly take on new challenges and see them through to completion.
